About David Sklansky

David Sklansky has over the years become renowned as one of the most respected and important poker authors in the history of the game. From his seminal 'THE THEORY OF POKER' poker instruction text, to his more math-based and tournament poker theory related texts such as 'TOURNAMENT POKER FOR ADVANCED PLAYERS.' He has also written books on blackjack and general gambling. David Sklansky was born in Teaneck, New Jersey. He has won three World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets, two from 1982 in $800 Mixed Doubles and $1000 Draw Hi) and one in 1983's $1000 Limit Omaha Hi. He also won the World Poker Tour's POKER BY THE BOOK invitational poker series where he played against other poker authors Phil Hellmuth, Doyle Brunson, Mike Caro, T.J. Cloutier and commentator Mike Sexton.  Sklansky has published several poker instruction and theory texts on the seminal Two Plus Two poker press. He has cowritten several other books with renowned poker author Mason Malmuth. He has written SMALL STAKES HOLD EM: WINNING BIG WITH EXPERT PLAY who was also coauthored by Ed Miller. Anyone who plays poker professionally has probably read David Sklansky. He also contributed to Doyle Brunson's Super/System's first edition, which he wrote on seven card stud hi/lo. He has written on  razz. A lot of his poker books are focused on poker theory and poker math, using tight play and math analysis. WSOP World Champion Greg Raymer once stated that David Sklansky's poker writing has been one of the biggest influences on his game. In addition to his writing, Sklansky makes a living playing professional poker and has appeared on Poker SuperStars.
